Mexico is a country of prude Roman Catholics. You realize this when your taxi driver crosses himself every time he drives by a church. However, Mexico does offer many possibilities for a naturist holiday. There’s only one official nudist beach in the country, Zipolite on the west coast in the state of Oaxaca, but there’s many resorts catering to nudists and most of them have private beaches. The majority are located on the Mexican Riviera, as the eastern coastline of the Yucatan is known. Heading south from Cancun, you’ll find the older Caribbean Reef Club near Puerto Morelos, Taninah, a resort in the middle of the jungle near Play Del Carmen, and Playa Naturel near Tulum, just to name a few. Further south still is arguably one of the most beautiful naturist resorts in the world: Playa Sonrisa (http://www.playasonrisa.com). It’s a paradise in the middle of nowhere, where you can walk naked forever on a white sandy beach by an eternally warm turquoise sea. Of course, Mexico is also the destination for the world’s only nude flight, which departs from Miami and lands in Cancun once a year.
