JALISCO, MEXICO – Enrique Ramos Rodríguez, administrator of the Punta Serena Villas and Spa resort in Tenacatita, Jalisco, Mexico is accused of fraudulent use of funds from the sugar industry workers union in Mexico. Rodríguez, who since 1995 has been the general secretary of the syndicate, is charged by members of diverting union funds into luxury hotel construction projects such as the Blue Bay resort and the aforementioned clothing-optional complex adjacent to it. While Rodríguez maintains that the investments have benefited the syndicate, the Mexican media has published the numbers of bank accounts owned by Rodríguez where revenues generated by the hotels have been deposited. Lawsuits launched against Rodríguez claim that Riovena, the company that was awarded the hotel construction contracts is nothing more than a shell company owned by Rodríguez himself.
