The Nekkid Band is Back!

It was two years ago in December on this site that we reported that the Nekkid Monday Band was to play no more. The talented but dispirited nudist funk group, led by Shane Gentry, had decided then that they lacked support from the community and would seek fame and fortune as musicians of the textile world instead. For a limited time, the band will reunite, playing two nights at the Hidden Beach Resort, the luxury clothing-optional on Mexico’s Yucatan coast.
Nekkid will play July 18th and 22nd, 2008, and will also join hotel guests for a day-long catamaran cruise, which we can only presume will be nude. More information can be had at the resort web site (link below) where there’s a sample of their music.

Swiss Law Asks: Nudist or Nuts?

Nudist Day likes to expose the sometimes silly laws regarding public nudity in various parts of the world. This time around, we land in Switzerland…

If you were to get naked in public in the streets of a Swiss city, the treatment you’ll get from local authorities will vary. In Neuchâtel, it isn’t a crime to amble naked in the streets, and any complaint lodged against you would be ignored by the police. Ironically, these same cops will pick-up you up anyway, treating you as a possible escapee from a mental institution! Doing the same in the city of Fribourg will almost guarantee you a trip to the psychiatric ward! In contrast, a nude stroll through Geneva will get you charged with exhibitionism and jailed for up to six months and a potentially heavy fine.

That said, all 3 municipalities will leave you alone if your act of public nudity is for a cause, say Peta or the World Naked Bike Ride, as long as your group announced its intentions ahead of time. In short, if you want to get naked in Switzerland, better say it’s for world peace!

Colombia Does Too Have a Nudist Paradise!

As we’ve reported before, Colombia has limited possibilities for nudists. There are no clothing-optional resorts and only one (recently) landed club located in the capital, Bogota.

However, there is one very attractive option for nudists, on the Caribbean coast near the beautiful port city of Santa Marta: Tayrona National Park (Parque Tayrona). The legendary tropical paradise is just a short distance from the city, yet a world away. Here you’ll find the country’s only nudist beaches, a short distance from the park’s entrance. Local nudists usually install themselves at the Cabo San Juan del Guía camping, which is the nearest to the most popular of the nude beaches. It’s not uncommon and quite acceptable for people to stay nude at all times, whether on the camping ground, walking on trails, or snorkeling. The camping has all the amenities, including a restaurant, and camping site prices are economical, ranging from three to 8 dollars. Admission to the park is 25,000 pesos, or about 13 US dollars, per person.

Colombians are generally quite conservative, but with a population of over 45 million, the ranks of nudists have grown exponentially and it’s probable that nudist venues will increase in numbers with the passage of time, as we’ve seen happen in Argentina. We’ll soon visit Tayrona and bring you images of paradise!

You can now receive notifications of new articles on our web site by email, as well as post your comments and questions, via our new Google discussion group. All you have to do is enter your email address in the box at the top of our right sidebar, or visit http://groups.google.com/group/nudistday. You don’t need to have a Gmail email account and it’s completely free.
Note that previously, we had a newsletter which we sent out bi-weekly. The service we used had become too expensive (we’re non-profit!) and we had to discontinue the newsletter until we can find a more economic solution. If you signed-up for our newsletter, you can wait for our email inviting you to the group, or just resubmit your email address in the same form in the upper right corner.
The discussion group is fully moderated by Nudist Day and businesses catering to nudists are welcome to post announcements at no cost. Spammy or irrelevant posts won’t be published.
