Clothing Optional: Only in America
Clothing is optional in virtually all nudist clubs and resorts in the United States. That is, users can elect to keep their clothes on. Not so in many other parts of the world. For instance, most venues in Europe require full nudity the moment you arrive, weather permitting. Ditto in Brazil, and even in most venues in the province of Quebec, Canada. Practically the only time any kind of clothing is permitted is when a woman is indisposed, but Nudist Day has even encountered clubs (in Brazil) where even then full nudity is required, women being asked to use tampons instead! The principle is that you do as the Romans do when in Rome. Americans adopt a more lenient policy, the idea being to allow newcomers to the lifestyle to ease into it, and also to allow non-nudist family members and friends to visit residents of naturist communities. Some argue that there’s no better way to become a nudist than to shed one’s clothes and let one’s inhibitions wear off, so to speak: It’s commonly known that after only as little as one hour, the average person can become quite at ease with their adopted lifestyle. Others claim that in America it’s all about money: clubs will allow anyone through their doors if it means getting their business.
