Recently we reported that authorities in Alicante, Spain, had voted to criminalize nudism on its main beach, Postiguet. Now comes the news, according to Spanish media, that the same municipality is considering turning the beach into a muslim-only venue, a first in the Western world. Beach goers would be required to wear appropriate Muslim beachwear, which means virtually no exposed skin for women. If this proves to be true, it would explain why such seemingly harsh rules were suddenly brought in against nudists in a country that’s recognized for its liberalism.

On another front in the same country, politicians in Granadilla (Tenerife, Canary islands) admitted that their proposal to restrict nudism on La Tejita beach was a mistake, and thus rejected the bill.
