I’m not a Nudist, Said the Nudist
Nudist Day has interviewed a great number of people over the last year and a half who declared they weren’t nudists. Yet, many regularly frequent nude beaches and some even go to nudist clubs.
It would be ridiculous if it was because they’re ashamed to be nudists…whilst accepting to be interviewed by a naturist publication. It’s much simpler and much more complicated than that! First off, it’s understandable that some don’t feel like they belong to any particular group, as they engage in only casual social nudism. In short, they don’t feel it’s anything special.
We’ve also come across a lot of folk, particularly Europeans, who would never think of wearing a bathing suit at the beach, but would never be seen nude in public away from the beach. In other words, nudity is just the appropriate attire for bathing, and is inappropriate anywhere else.
However, just as there’s no such thing as “half-pregnant”, we can unequivocally say that anyone who feels comfortable in the all together in the presence of strangers, in a non-sexual situation, is in fact…a nudist in spirit. Not a member of any fringe society, just someone who’s comfortable with his/her own body. We won’t push that in anybody’s face, however!
