Mexican Nudist Tourism a Big Success

The Mexican Association of Tourism Developers reports that hotels and resorts in that country that cater to nudists average an occupancy rate of 80 per cent. Although the total economic benefits derived from that sector amounts to only 30 million dollars (US) annually, it’s regarded as a big success story and plans are underway to build more hotels geared for nudists in areas such as Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos. However, it should be noted that although the number of Mexicans who practice naturism is growing, the vast majority of the patrons of the clothing-optional hotels are well-heeled middle-aged Americans and Canadians, followed by Europeans. Unofficial statistics purport that the hotels located in Los Cabos and Cancun alone attract 70,000 nudists every year.
