Spencer Tunick’s next Installation: Mexico City
Spencer Tunick, photographer of nude masses, will be delivering his next “installation” from the Mexican capital. The exact location of the photo shoot within the city is to be announced tomorrow (March 21) on Tunick’s website.
Tunick, who has photographed thousands of people in cities across the world had previously been unsuccessful in his attempts to hold a shoot in Mexico City, the world’s most populated city. He could not get the necessary financial support from local institutions, such as museums, in this very Catholic, conservative, city. Until now, that is. A rumored site for the event is the Zocalo, the imposing central square where the Presidential palace is located.
Thousands of Mexicans have already signed-up to participate and hopes are high that this will translate into the largest number of naked people in one photo, 7,000 being the record set in Barcelona, Spain, in 2003.
