The Naked Body as Musical Instrument
Cesar Lopez is a Colombian musician whose claim to fame is performance music art, which sometimes can involve using unusual objects to produce sounds and then integrating them in his musical pieces. His “Purpura” project, launched in 2000, is the one that people still talk about the most. Purpura involved using two naked people, a man and a woman, as drums. The live shows he performed included the use of video and special microphones, and great care was taken not to tinge the project with any sexual overtones, Lopez stresses on his website (link below).
