Walk Naked through an Australian Rain Forest
Twin Falls is a unique nudist destination about an hour inland from Port Macquarie, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. What’s special about this naturist retreat is it affords visitors the opportunity to walk nude through 100 acres of rainforest, interacting with Australia’s extraordinary fauna and flora. The private sanctuary is a member of the Australian Nudist Federation (ANF) and is named Twin Falls owing to the waterfalls found on the property.
The retreat is run by Ian and Yolanda, whom we contacted for this article. Asked about the wildlife one is likely to encounter on grounds, Ian responded: “The most common wildlife here would be Wallabies (wobblies as we call them!), paddiemelons, kangaroos, lots of bird life, goanas, possums, bandicoots, echidnas and so on. About the worst you’ll find here would be a red-belly black snake, however this is fairly uncommon (they generally keep away humans!) anyway. Although venomous they are usually pretty shy”.

Twin Falls has two well-maintained and sign-posted trails, as well as several other tracks, and new trails currently being added. December through February is the peak period at the retreat, although temperatures are nudist-friendly year-round, generally reaching past 20 C (68 F) even in winter, although nights tend to be chilly at that time. Twin Falls also has a bed and breakfast and a cabin should you decide to stay overnight. Most guests are Australian, many stopping-by while travelling between Sydney and Brisbane (Queensland). Ian recalls two seniors, both in their eighties, who “…went off for a walk and when they returned later the lady came over to me and said…you know - that was our first time…we should have done this decades ago!”
Nine years ago, Ian and Yolanda left Sydney and purchased the property, which was formerly an ostrich farm. “We originally brought it so that we could go naked whenever we wished. Some of our nudists friends occasionally would visit and one year the idea was born - lets start a retreat!”, recounts Ian, who maintains the retreat through earnings from a web business.
Twin Falls has a popular “Banquet night” where guests can enjoy Yolanda’s Chinese cooking. Other interesting options are the large saltwater pool and nude massages. Note that nudity is obligatory, weather permitting, at Twins Falls. As Nudist Day has pointed-out before, “clothing-optional” is more a North American concept.
