Classic Theater Play Goes Nude
Phèdre is a 17th century tragedy written by Racine, one of the great French playwrights. As such, the classic has been acted-out in front of audiences thousands of times, but never like the current version running at the Salle du Faubourg, in Geneva, Switzerland: The five actors are completely naked throughout the performance.
Not only are the actors nude, but the play is “interactive”: The stage is in the center of the audience, and the performers at times walk down amongst the spectators while reciting their lines. The nudity is completely non-erotic and no effort is made to camouflage any of the actors’ physical imperfections.
The show closes today (May 4th, 2008).

Spencer Tunick will Undress Ireland in June, 2008
New York native Spencer Tunick continues his long term project of photographing massive numbers of nudes in one take, this time taking to the streets of Cork (June 17) and Dublin (June 21), two major cities in Ireland.
Tunick has already started his volunteer model recruitment drive via a website dedicated to the event ((www.spencertunickireland.ie). Public nudity is illegal in Ireland, but the artist usually has no problems getting cities to host and fund his installations, as they’re prestigious events which receive enormous press coverage around the globe.
Tunick will also shoot in Vienna, Austria, on May 11, this time with a football theme in honor of the European championship which will take place in that city in June. Tunick hopes to beat his old record of 18,000 thousand nude participants, as the shoot location will be the Ernest Happel stadium, which has a 50,000 capacity.

Woman with Baby Strolls Naked in Buenos Aires
Friday, April 18, 2008 - A woman carrying an infant casually removes all her clothing in the middle of a popular central Buenos Aires square and ambles about, oblivious to the stares of the crowds.
The woman was none other than “Avril X”, as she calls herself, who has repeated this scene on many other occasions in this city as well as the Argentinean resort of Mar del Plata since 2004. It’s all part of “Urbanudismo”, a photographic art project, featuring her and the reactions of the ordinary people who cross her path whilst she’s in a state of undress. While she’s gained a measure of fame through her live exhibits, it’s also resulted in her arrest several times, as public nudity isn’t legal in Argentina, a country which, however, boasts several nudist clubs.
Avril, a web designer, has never publicly claimed that she’s a nudist even though she spends a large part of her time naked, sometimes during interviews. Several prominent members of the nudist community in her country hissed that she’s an exhibitionist, not a nudist. A large number of photographs from the installations can be viewed free on her web site (in Spanish, requires registration).

Nudes to Admire Museum Nudes
MEXICO CITY - A nudist group based in Mexico City claims to have organized a nude visit to the city’s University Museum of Contemporary Art (MUCA), in conjunction with a Spencer Tunick exhibit taking place there. Saturday, November 27, from 7:30 pm through 9 pm, anyone visiting the display of photos Tunick took earlier this year in the city’s renown Zocalo square, will be required to remove all items of clothing except for footwear. One might suspect that this would be used as a publicity stunt, but organizers insist that no media will be present, even though visitors will be allowed to take photos, as long as anyone included in a shot gives his or her consent.
